We are delighted that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated the Downland Practice, a dispensing practice, as ‘Outstanding’ for its responsive services towards peoples’ needs'.

The Downland Practice was inspected on 16 December 2015 and was rated ‘Good’ overall with the Care Quality Commission recognising several areas of outstanding practice. These include the provision of an ultrasound scanning service and its exceptional care to young people and adults aged between 5-25 years with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs. The Downland Practice is delighted with this recognition of the hard work and conscientious effort of all the staff to understand the differing needs of our patients. It also acknowledges the resolve of all teams to listen and to be responsive to our different patient groups and respond to their reviews of our services. “We have always been, and strive to continue to be a very forward-thinking practice, and we will aim to maintain these high standards into the future.” An area we have been focusing on over the last 12 months are the outcomes for patients with diabetes and COPD and we are now working very closely with a specialist diabetes nurse, who visits on a regular basis. The Downland Practice also recognises the huge amount of hard work going on among all the other General Practices across the Newbury District CCG in general; “We all work together, sharing ideas and information to ensure that the patients in our area receive the best care possible”.
